Saints RB and Steelers WR Situations
Two situations have occurred during this week which might open up some significant extended playing time for some backups who have the potential to consistently produce.
First, let’s go over the Saints RB situation. Reggie Bush is out for a month with a knee injury, and Deuce Mccallister was slated to gain the bulk of the carries in his absence. However, word is that Mccallister tested positive for a banned substance some time this week, and so he will not be in uniform as well. So who gets the carries now? The answer is Aaron Stecker, who had a host of extremely productive games down the stretch last year when forced to start. He’s already proven he can be a very tough runner who is difficult to stop. Throw him some carries and he has the ability to do some real damage. Pick him up if you can, and if you need a bye-week stopgap, he is an excellent choice.
Next, let’s go over the Steelers WR situation. Santonio Holmes was pulled over and charged with marijuana possession earlier this week, and will be likely suspended as well in addition to being deactivated for tomorrow’s game against the Giants. So, if you need a WR off the waiver-wire, look no further than Nate Washington, who has always been good for a couple of deep balls every now and then, but will see much more action (and looks) while Holmes is out.
